OPD: Man bites victim, yells racial names
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
Ottumwa police officers have made an arrest in connection to an attack reported last month.
Roger Brownfield, 31, of Ottumwa, was arrested Sunday, and charged with First-Degree Burglary, a Class B felony.
Lt. Jason Bell told KTVO Brownfield was upset about a breakup when it happened.
Bell said Brownfield approached a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend inside, and took his anger out on a man who was in the car with her. According to the criminal complaint, Brownfield ripped open the door, yelled racial names at the victim, and attacked him. Police also say Brownfield punched the victim, and bit his fingers and face.
Brownfield has pleaded not guilty to the crime. He's still in custody at the Wapello County Jail on a $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled to happen this Monday.
