An Oskaloosa man could spend up to 50 years in jail for the death of an infant.
25 year-old Bryan Draper Vilcone was sentenced in a Mahaska County courtroom on Thursday.
Judge Joel Yates sentenced Vilcone to 50 years on one count of Child Endangerment resulting in death of seven week-old Raelynn M. Hart.
Vilcone also received a 25 year sentence for Attempted Murder.
The sentences will be served concurrently.
He will be elgible for parole after serving 70 percent of the sentence.
Vilcone will also have pay Raelynn's mother $150,000 in restitution.
A tearful Vilcone told the court that he loved Raelynn and her mother.
He said he wasn't the horrible person that he appeared to be, and that he was sorry for what he done.
Vilcone was arrested in April 2013 after Raelynn died of serious head trauma.
Vilcone acknowledged that he had shaken the child repeatedly
The plea agreement allowed Vilcone to avoid mandatory life sentence for murder.
