Ottumwa Burger King closed indefinitely after fire
A fire erupted in an Ottumwa Burger King kitchen Monday morning.
The Ottumwa City Fire Department responded to the fire at the Quincy Ave Location around 9 am.
The restaurant was immediately evacuated, and no injuries were suffered.
The fire was relatively small in size and was quickly contained.
Owner Randall Bradley praised the efforts of the fire department in preserving his restaurant.
"The fire started in the broiler exhaust stack," said Bradley. "Thanks to the very quick response from the Ottumwa Fire Department and great job they did, they clearly saved my building. And I'm grateful to them for that."
The cause of the fire is still being determined, and the costs of damages is unknown as well.
Bradley also lauded the efforts of his crew and managers for pitching in to clean up the damage.
If all goes according to plan, the restaurant hopes to re-open on Wednesday.
