Ottumwa Chamber hopes for lots of visitors in last week of Nights 'N Lights
As we inch closer to Christmas and the new year, that means time is winding down for visitors to drive through Nights 'N Lights in Greater Ottumwa Park.
This year's display has seen 3,500 vehicles drive through so far, and Nights 'N Lights will be open until Saturday, December 28, including Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce wants to end the season on a strong note, so don't let the snow or the cold temperatures keep you away.
"[The] cold weather, it doesn't affect the participation because they're in their cars and they're warm and it even makes it a little more comfortable when you're inside and it's so cold out," said Tim Kurtz, Director of the Chamber of Commerce.
At the end of the display, visitors take a survey and Kurtz said it makes all the hard work worth it when volunteers realize how much of a tradition Nights 'N Lights is for families across Iowa and across the country.
The chamber doesn't hold onto any of the profits, all of the money raised through Nights 'N Lights goes to support local non-profits. The chamber is also looking for volunteers to take down the display after the weather warms up a little. If you are interested in volunteering, contact their office at 641-682-3465.
