Ottumwa Chamber presents Gene Schultz award

This year, Ottumwa Chamber Executive Director Connie Hammersley-Wilson presented the award to Jean Dell/KTVO

Ottumwa's business community gathered Tuesday night to celebrate the City of Bridges.

The Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress held its annual banquet at the Bridge View Center. Hundreds of business, economic development and governmental leaders joined together to celebrate all the city has accomplished in 2017.

New Partners in Progress CEO T.J. Heller gave the keynote address.

But the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Gene Schultz Community Service Award.

The award is given annually to one Ottumwan who has dedicated his or her life to serving the community. This year, Ottumwa Chamber Director Connie Hammersley-Wilson presented the award to Jean Dell.

Most Ottumwans recognize Dell for her work with the Ottumwa League of Women's Voters. The league is dedicated to getting citizens to vote through outreach programs like the spring legislative and candidate forums during election years.
