During the Ottumwa City Council meeting Tuesday night, the council approved the plans and specifications for three major construction projects.
One of the projects is a street project for Pennsylvania Avenue which includes a widening and improvement of traffic flow.
Improvements will also be made to the storm water flow at the Ottumwa lagoon system including a new pump station.
The third project is a flood wall that will be constructed around Ottumwa Water Works and Hydro. The flood wall should provide top-notch flood protection for the city.
Ottumwa Public Information Officer, Tom Rodgers, said the projects are still in the preliminary stages.
"Action taken last night was for the plans and specifications," said Rodgers. "We'll see those go to bid now--hopefully with bids coming back in February, and then construction to begin later this spring or early this summer on all three of those projects."
The estimated costs of all three projects total around $8.3 million.
