Ottumwa community tees up for scholarship fundraiser

Indian Hills staff, business members and individuals tee'd up for a good cause Friday.

The weather held off just long enough to get in a good couple of hours of golf at Cedar Creek Golf Course and raise money for Indian Hills students through the Indian Hills Foundation scholarship program.

This year is the golf tournament's 35th year and 44 teams participated. The dedication of the community is what keeps events like this going each year.

"I'm really fortunate because the staff of Indian Hills do support the foundation, we have a 100% giving to the foundation every year through our employee giving campaign," said Rhonda Conrad, Executive Director of the Indian Hills Foundation. "They also are very generous with their time and volunteering to help with events, whether they're manning a hole or serving beverages or food or playing the tournament or helping us set up or tear down, they're really good about giving their time to us."

With the proceeds raised from the golf tournament, the foundation will be able to give out several $600 general fund scholarships to students at IHCC.
