Ottumwa drug bust leads to arrest
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
A Des Moines convict is in custody at the Wapello County Jail following a hotel drug bust Tuesday.
Garland Shawn Gordon, 47, was arrested and charged Tuesday morning with Possession with Intent to Deliver more than Five Grams of Methamphetamine, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Police say Gordon overstayed his welcome at the Days Inn hotel in Ottumwa. When investigators showed up to the hotel room, they found Gordon with more than seven grams of methamphetamine and a duffel bag full of weapons.
Police Chief Tom McAndrew estimated the street value to be about $100 per gram of meth.
In 2006, Gordon was convicted in Scott County of Drug Possession and Child Endangerment, and in 2007, he was convicted of Theft.
At last check, he was still at the Wapello County Jail on $35,000 bond.
