Ottumwa Fire Department responds to vacant house fire
The Ottumwa Fire Department received a call around 1 p.m. about smoke coming from the backyard at a house on 130 Taft Avenue.
They sent an engine to investigate and received a call 15 seconds later that it was a house fire.
Upon responding, they found a one story home with smoke coming from the attic vents and roof. It did not take them long to control the fire and put it out.
The house appeared to be vacant and the owners are still trying to be located.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
