Ottumwa High School holds graduation
Ottumwa High School held their graduation ceremony Sunday and the Class of 2014 set a record.
The class of 2014 was the first in Ottumwa High School history to exceed the 90% graduation rate.
Around 3,300 were in attendance at the Bridgeview Center to see the seniors receive their diplomas.
English Professor Melissa Carpenter was the faculty speaker. During her speech, she expressed how much the class of 2014 meant to her.
The class featured 12 valedictorians.
Lindzey Rivera graduated Sunday and he said he was happy to spend the special moment with his friends.
"It feels like the four years have gone by so fast," said Rivera. "I honestly can't explain it. I'm just happy to be here with all my friends and celebrate the moment when we move on, we go to college, or wherever we go."
