Ottumwa man accused of preying on minor
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
An Ottumwa man is accused of trying to talk a 14-year-old girl into meeting him for sex.
Ottumwa police records show Anthony Gomez, 26, was arrested Monday and charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Enticing a Minor. Both are Class D felonies.
According to online court documents, the incident happened sometime between February 2017 and April 2017.
Court documents say Gomez communicated with the girl on an online dating website and through text messaging.
The girl told Gomez her age on multiple occasions.
Gomez allegedly asked the victim to send nude pictures of herself in exchange for money.
Court records go on to say that Gomez “also spoke with the victim on multiple occasions about driving to her residence and picking her up.”
Gomez is in custody at the Wapello County jail on $10,000 cash-only bond.
He appeared in court this week where he pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
