Fri, 18 Jul 2014 21:05:05 GMT — An Ottumwa man with an interesting hobby wants to share it with his community. Gerald Stiles Sr. began collecting stamps about a year and a half ago. He buys them from coin stores and other shops and then creates collages. The Ottumwa Post Office helped Stiles jump-start his hobby, so on Friday, Stiles decided to donate a collage to their office on Second Street. That particular collage was made up of about 1,000 stamps that date in age from 1861 to the early 1970's. Stiles said his favorite part about creating the collages is how they all turn out differently. "I've got some collages that have centerpieces, like gold stamps, silver stamps, and some humongous stamps from the world, most of my world collages have got big stamps," he said. A few of his collages are on sale at places around town, including McKee Coins in Ottumwa. If you're interested in purchasing a collage, you can contact the store at (641)-684-6006, or you can call Stiles at (641)-208-2361.
