Ottumwa Marching Bulldogs prepare for fall performances

Thu, 07 Aug 2014 18:48:35 GMT — The Ottumwa Marching Bulldogs are hosting their second annual ice cream social and premiere contest music concert on Thursday night. The ice cream social begins at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. The marching band has 87 band members.The theme for their performances for the 2014 fall season is centered around veterans and is titled, "Lest we Forget.""I think it, especially in this day and age with everything that's going on in the world and it's the 70th anniversary of World War II, so it's, I have a lot of veterans in my family and I think everybody has that connection," said Marching Bulldogs director Troy Gerleman. "We just felt this was the year to do the show. It means a lot to a great deal."The Marching Bulldogs will premiere their full concert including props and motion on the first home football game in Ottumwa on August 29.
