The Ottumwa Noon Lion's Club hosted their annual Pancake Day breakfast Saturday at the Jimmy Jones Shelter in Greater Ottumwa Park.
From 6 a.m. to noon, people in the community could eat as much as they wanted for $6. Those who pre-registered paid $5.50. Organizers say around 150 people attended the event.
â??Members, old members and new members, they stepped-up and pitched in help set up last night,â?? Charlie Rooker, Lionâ??s Club Member said. â??Some of them stayed all night last night in the camper and got here this morning at 5 o'clock. Our motto is 'we serve' and we try to help out whenever we can.â??
Rooker says the proceeds from the event will be donated to various non-profit organizations in the community, including Hospice, the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, youth softball and the Iowa Sight Conservation Foundation.
