Ottumwa police announce additional charge and arrest in shooting case

The Ottumwa Police Department has announced new charges for an attempted murder suspect, and an additional arrest has been made.

Just before 1 a.m. November 30, Ottumwa police arrested Venhure Yosef Tsegay, 18, of Ottumwa, in relation to a shooting that took place the day before involving a 16-year-old victim identified as Christian Madueno of Ottumwa.

Tsegay was charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, a Class B felony.

On Wednesday, the Ottumwa Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Calvin Antione Luckett, 21, also of Ottumwa, for Robbery 1st Degree, a Class B felony.

Luckett was arrested later that day in Grand Junction, Colorado, and will be extradited back to Iowa to be arraigned on the robbery charge.

On Thursday, the Ottumwa Police Department additionally charged Venhure Yosef Tsegay with Robbery in the 1st Degree.

The victim in the robbery was also Madueno. The alleged robbery took place several hours before the shooting incident on November 29.

Madueno remains in critical condition from his injuries.
