Ottumwa police asking for help locating missing woman

Georgia Joette Gum has been missing since Tuesday

Update: Aug. 15

Ottumwa police are reporting that the body of Georgia Gum was found early Thursday morning.

Her body will be sent to Des Moines for an autopsy.

On the morning of Thursday August 15, 2013 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Wapello County Deputies located a deceased female matching the description of Georgia Gum approximately 200 yards from her vehicle. It appears the female had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy will be performed on the body and positive identification made by the State Medical Examinerâ??s Office.


The Ottumwa Police Department is requesting the publicâ??s assistance in locating a missing woman from Ottumwa.

Georgia Joette Gum, 31, of Ottumwa was reported missing on the evening of Tuesday, August 13.

Gum is described as a white female, 5â?? tall, 130 lbs, hazel eyes, brown hair. Also missing is Gumâ??s white 2011 Ford Mustang bearing license plate number 025YRR.
