Ottumwa prepares for construction on Quincy Avenue

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 23:01:50 GMT — The public is invited to attend an informational meeting about upcoming new construction work on Quincy Avenue in Ottumwa.The meeting is Thursday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ottumwa City Hall. The construction work will include updates to the storm water system and replacing the asphalt.The work will go down Quincy Avenue from Highway 34 to Albia Road. The area is home to many businesses, and the city encourages those business owners to attend the meeting. City officials also say there will be access to all businesses during the construction."Road construction is a major inconvenience for a lot of people and we just ask people to be patient, we don't do this to inconvenience anybody it's for the streets and the good of the community at large. We ask folks to be considerate of the construction workers. That's their workspace, their office so to speak," said Tom Rodgers, Ottumwa public information officer.
