The Ottumwa City Council held a public budget meeting for the 2015 fiscal year before its meeting tonight, but noboody voice their opinion.
Though the city is in preliminary stages planning the 2015 budget, public input is always welcome. The council is looking at plans and improvements for the next fiscal year, and what to with the 12 million dollars of property tax allocated for the city.
There will be another chance for formal input at the public budget hearing on December 3rd.
Ottumwa City Administrator Joe Helfenberger said the lack of input isn't unusual or necessary. Ottumwans can call city hall to voice their budget opinions as well.
"We haven't had a lot input these past few years, but as it develops--we just started doing this the last several years--it'll probably gain more public input down the road," said Helfenberger.
Ottumwa City Hall can be reached at 641-683-0600 for those wishing to voice their budget input via phone.
