Ottumwa Public Library set to unveil Library Corner

Children at the Ottumwa Public Library will have new resources available to help promote the connections between public media and early literacy and math skills.

All of this is made possible by a new Library Corner placed in the library by Iowa Public Television.

"So what we're going to physically get from it is a little reading mat for this corner of our Children's Library," said Ottumwa Public Library Director Sonja Ferrell. "And then it'll have some banners and posters from characters from public television shows."

The new IPTV Library Corner will open Saturday, January 11th at 9:30 a.m. with a launch event at Liberty Elementary School.

The hour-long event will feature story time with IPTV Kids Clubhouse host, Dan Wardell.

The IPTV Library Corners are part of Iowa Public Television's Ready for School initiative which works with Iowa communities to strengthen the math and literacy skills of children ages two to eight.
