The Ottumwa Public Library has gotten a facelift to its exterior.
Thanks to the Bright Ideas Grant from the Legacy Foundation, the library was able to make the much needed improvements.
The work started in June and was just recently completed.
The repairs included tuck pointing around the perimeter of the library, chimneys and dome and caulking around the roof.
The building is 110 years, so naturally it was time for some upkeep.
â??And so it's not a glamorous job. You're not going to see a major difference on the exterior of our library but we were able to have them basically mend some of the stone holes so you can kind of see it but the best is where you canâ??t notice it and so that's why we kind of had a hard time finding some of the improvements but we have it over here,â?? said Sonja Ferrell, Ottumwa Public Library Director.
The grant from the Legacy Foundation was just over $11,500, which was matched with library funds.
