Ottumwa School District to offer preschool child care

Good news for parents of students enrolled in the Ottumwa Community Schools District preschool program for four-year-olds.

Starting in August, the district will be offering preschool child care.

The child care program will take place before and after preschool, and it will include lunch.

Preschool Administrator Deb Cook said the child care will continue to be a learning environment for its students.

District officials saw there was a great need for this type of program.

â??Being able to host a wraparound service with daycare facilities and opportunities is a much-needed opportunity for parents who work during the day and are unable to leave work to be able to come back in,â?? said Cook.

Program hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the cost is $17 for a full day.

There is no cost for regular preschool without child care.

Students who attend child care services must also attend the a.m. preschool program.
