Ottumwa residents will now have a new option when it comes to paying for emergency repair services.
Ottumwa Water and Hydro recently announced an agreement with HomeServe USA that will provide optional water line, sewer line and in-home plumbing repair service plans to homeowners in the Ottumwa area.
The plans will offer homeowners protection against the expense of emergency repairs including water and service line breaks and interior plumbing problems, which are often not covered by basic homeownerâ??s insurance policies.
â??We have found that many of our customers become frustrated when they discover a leaking water service line, or have a blocked sewer lateral on their property and then discover that this piping is their responsibility to fix as a homeowner. These repairs can be costly, and the unexpected expense of repairing a service line can be a blow to a homeownerâ??s budget,â?? said Mike Heffernan, General Manager of Ottumwa Water and Hydro. â??Ottumwa Water and Hydro recognized that one way we could assist our customers is to offer them an optional program that would protect them against the cost and hassle of repairs in these instances. We are confident that the program we have created with HomeServe is well-suited for our customers.â??
Ottumwa Water and Hydro joins another utility provider in Iowa, Des Moines Water Works, to offer HomeServeâ??s optional repair service plans to homeowners.
HomeServe currently provides plans for 1.6 million homeowners throughout the United States and Canada through partnerships with utilities and municipalities and through its own brand.
