Ottumwa woman accused of drunken hit-and-run
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
Police say an Ottumwa woman is responsible for a drunken hit-and-run early Sunday.
Morgan Houk, 24, was arrested and charged with Serious Injury by Vehicle and Operating While Intoxicated.
Witnesses at the north Hy-Vee gas station Sunday told police Houk appeared to be drunk when she allegedly ran over someone who attempted to stop her. Houk kept driving.
The victim was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals with serious injuries. The relation between Houk and the victim is still unclear.
Police say they later found Houk at her home on Crestview Avenue. The criminal complaint adds that Houk refused to take a field sobriety test.
She posted bond and was released a few hours later. Houk is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
