Ottumwa YMCA reopens after its annual weeklong shutdown
The Ottumwa YMCA just reopened its doors after its annual weeklong shutdown for maintenance.
The Y's executive director, Tom Sisler, says staffers were working in essentially every room of the gym from August 18th through the 25th. During the time the facility was closed to the public, employees were busy making necessary equipment repairs, cleaning, revamping the decor and getting everything back in working order for the Y's members. Staffers are continuing to get things back up to speed making some final touches this week.
â??We just finished up a very wonderful work week here,â?? Sisler said. â??We call it our annual shutdown, and we actually closed the Y down to our members and guests so that we have a chance to get into some spaces to clean up to do some repair work, maybe add some new things around some things you have to do when members aren't working out or when they're here at the Y.â??
Crews also put new laminate flooring in the lobby, and added some new equipment in the weight room. The Ottumwa Y begins new program registration on Sept. 3.
