People in Greater Ottumwa Park celebrated the holiday with fireworks following a fun-filled afternoon.
The Jimmy Jones Shelter was packed for all the 4th of July festivities, which included bluegrass and country music, lots of food and beverages, flea market vendors and also a display and merchandise from Iowa's Naval Air Station.
â??We're lucky that our councilman Brian Morgan, he did this last year; he did it again this year for the 4th,â?? Steve Black, President of NAS Ottumwa said. â??We've had a lot of folks coming and going all day long.â??
The NAS came out today to remind people of the museum they are working on at the Ottumwa Regional Airport. Black says they created the non-profit organization in 2011 to save the base headquarters and capture the rich aerospace history Iowa has to offer.
