Pages for Pennies wraps up at Bridge View

Remaining books from Pages for Pennies are being boxed up.

Sunday was the final day of the Pages for Pennies book sale at the Bridge View Center.

People in the community donated hundreds to thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, magazines and board games for others to come out and buy. The items cost anywhere between 75-cents and $2. The funds raised go to benefit the Ottumwa Public Library, The Bridge View Center, and The Ottumwa Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event began on Thursday and went until five o'clock today. All remaining items were 50-percent off for the last day of Pages for Pennies. Volunteers and organizers say they are pleased with the turnout.

â??We've had thousands of books and recordings and games and puzzles and people have been coming in and filling up on things, so it's been a very very busy weekend,â?? Michael Phillipsen, a Bridge View Center Board Member and Volunteer said.

This was the second year the Bridge View Center has hosted the book sale, and they plan to do it again next year. All the items that didn't sell are being boxed up and taken to the Friends of the Library sale in Bloomfield.
