Independence Day is full of activities and earlier this evening hundreds of people were at Long Branch State Park in Macon enjoying the nice weather and the water. From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the Missouri Department of Natural Resources held its first 'Party at the Park.' There was a sandcastle building contest, three-legged race, water-balloon toss and bubble gum blowing contest.
There was even a little Mr. and Miss Long Branch pageant. KTVO caught up with Natural Resource Manger Jered Wisdom before the event kicked off. â??We just wanted to try and encourage people to come out and spend a day in the park before the fireworks show,â?? Wisdom said.
After the event, the Macon Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
