Pennsylvania Place hosts annual Festival of Trees

The lobby at Pennsylvania Place is transformed into a winter wonderland for the Festival of Trees.

The buildings at Pennsylvania Place will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend for the 19th annual Festival of Trees, with all the proceeds benefiting Ottumwa's Habitat for Humanity.

Friday, the Gala and Grand Opening will take place from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 a person.

Saturday's festival hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., with kids' day from 9-11 a.m. Kids will be able to attend story time, take their pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and get their faces painted by Dizzy the Clown. Tickets for the children's event are $3 each.

Pennsylvania Place employees were hard at work Thursday getting everything ready in time for the event.

"We enjoy the people, we really like seeing the kids, making the money for Habitat, it's fun," said Judy Grooms, one of the Festival of Trees organizers.

Grooms said they expect around 100 children to attend on Saturday.
