People shopped today to help donate goods to a Heartland organization.
The Adair County Humane Society held a pet food drive at the Kirksville Hy-Vee Saturday morning.
People stopped by the two booths to drop off donated items such as toys, food, and cleaning supplies to help the animal shelter up and running with food and shelter for animals who are waiting for adoption.
"Some people believe that we get too many and put them down. That's not the case. We got more animals on hand right now than we normally have so our costs go up so that's why we are doing this," said Adair County Humane Society Board Member Lonnie Byrn.
The humane society says they appreciated all the items and money that was donated to them.
If you would like to help the Adair County Humane Society you can drop off items at their shelter near Kirksville just off of Highway 6 West.
