Personnel action taken against Ottumwa Police officer
Personnel action has been taken against an off duty Ottumwa Police officer that was trying to enforce traffic.
After the Ottumwa Police Department received a citizen complaint, an investigation took place and action was taken against the officer. The department is not commenting on what action was taken or the name of the officer involved.
According to Interim Police Chief Tom McAndrew, while officers are off duty, they cannot act in official capacity unless time is of the essence and the action could protect life.
The incident took place sometime in the last two months.
