Pets get a chance to visit Santa

Teresa Carter has her picture taken at the Pet Pictures with Santa event

On this Saturday morning, it wasn't kids, but animals who got a chance to see Santa.

The Field of Dreams Rescue organization held a Pet Pictures with Santa event at the Lindquist Veterinary Care Center in Kirksville.

Owners dressed up their dogs and cats in cute Christmas outfits and one by one got a chance to sit on Santa's lap and take a picture with just a $5 donation to help support the organization.

"It's wonderful to see people come out with their pets and all dressed up and ready to get pictures. It's an exciting time for the owners and their pets while at the same time helping Field of Dreams Rescue," said Kate Fine-Newman, President of Field of Dreams Rescue.

Even our very own Teresa Carter brought her cat Bella to the event.

About 60 pets took pictures with Santa.

Field of Dreams Rescue was founded in 2007 as a publicly funded, all volunteer organization. Stray dogs and cats are accepted into foster homes to receive medical care, socialization and training with the intention of finding a permanent adoptive home.
