Months after a fire devastated two prominent buildings, residents are still trying to pick up the pieces.
All that is left of the Black Diamond building in Bevier is brick, wood and rubble. Black Diamond Association members are picking up what is left of the building that once stood next to the Pear Tree Restaurant.
Members said they will rebuild again, but right now they need help picking up the remains of what is left. â??We didn't lose everything,â?? said Black Diamond Association Member Randy Julius.
â??When the fire was blazing some people went inside the building real fast and pulled out some very important stuff; however, we probably lost about 60 to 70 percent of the stuff that was in there.â??
The Black Diamond Association has organized a cleanup. Cleanup is Friday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday, May 25 at 8:00 a.m.
â??If anybody would like to make a donation to help with the cleanup cost, you can make that check out to Bevier Black Diamond Association care of Patty Cheever Old Highway 36 West Bevier, Missouri 63532,â?? Julius said.
Julius said if you want brick, you are more than welcome to come and get it from the site until Friday. Members said if you have equipment such as trucks and trailers, bring them as well.
