Pilcher's second murder trial set to start next month
Robert Eugene Pilcher will stand trial for murder on September 9.
Pilcher is accused of killing 17-year old Mary Jane Jones in 1974.
This will be the second time the 66-year-old Pilcher will face a Wapello County jury on the charge.
In January, a jury spent five days attempting to reach a verdict before telling Judge Richard Meadows that they were hopelessly deadlocked.
Pilcher was arrested in November 2012 after DNA evidence tied him to the rural Wapello County home where Jones was found dead.
Pilcher's attorneys argued that the DNA was only a partial match and didn't definitively prove their client's guilt.
Pilcher has been custody since his arrest.
