Plea entered in 'shots fired' incident

John Mims is charged with armed criminal action

The suspect charged in connection with a shooting incident in downtown Kirksville has entered a plea in the case.

John Mims, 23, of Kirksville, is charged with armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He remains in the Adair County jail under $100,000 cash only bond.

During a court appearance Tuesday, Mims entered a plea of not guilty. He also asked for a bond reduction which was denied.

Mims is accused of firing a handgun in downtown Kirksville in the early morning hours of January 19. No one was injured in the incident.

The next court date for Mims is set for May 7.
