Police investigate early morning shooting in Kirksville

Authorities are investigating an early morning shooting in Kirksville. (KTVO)

Update: Adair County Coroner Brian Noe has released the identity of the shooting victim to KTVO.

Noe told us Monday afternoon that the man killed in the early Saturday morning shooting was Shane'te Douglas Glasgow of Brookfield, Mo.

The coroner is waiting on further information from police, toxicology reports and gun powder residue test results before making a ruling on the death.

Noe said other people were present when Glasgow was shot at the Callyn Heights Apartments on West Elizabeth Street.

He told KTVO police learned that a 9 mm handgun was being passed around, and they thought it was unloaded.

Noe said Glasgow died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

The fatal shooting remains under investigation.


Update: One person is dead following an early morning shooting in Kirksville.

According to a release from the Kirksville Police Department, the victim is a 27-year-old male from Brookfield, Mo.

His name is currently being withheld until the family has been notified.

The investigation is continuing.

Around 2:30 Saturday morning, police responded to an apartment complex at 710 West Elizabeth Street in reference to a report of a subject that had been shot with a firearm.

Officers spoke with several witnesses and gathered evidence at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
