Police seize two pounds of pot, cash, drug paraphernalia
A morning traffic stop south of Kirksville Thursday has resulted in a pair of arrests and the discovery of two pounds of marijuana, $1,000 in cash, baggies and scales.
Angel Reed, 27, of Kirksville, and Larry Ransom, 27, of San Antonio, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class B felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.
The Kirksville Police Department had a search warrant for the vehicle and at 9:15 Thursday morning, KPD officers pulled over the two suspects that were northbound on Highway 63, south of Highway E in Adair County.
â??We developed information from multiple sources involving Angel Reed's activity of going to Texas and procuring large amounts of marijuana and bringing it back to Missouri to distribute,â?? said Detective Justin Jones.
Detective Jones said the investigation is continuing and law enforcement nationwide is trying to do interdiction on major highways, including the highways in which they use to travel from San Antonio to Kirksville.
