A hometown favorite is expanding in Ottumwa.
On Wednesday, Bubba Qâ??s Restaurant announced that they will be opening a second location at the Quincy Place Mall. Along with their current location in downtown Ottumwa, Bubba Qâ??s is one of the most popular restaurants in southeast Iowa.
â??We started here, and you know, this being an old Subway, we have never had enough room to do the things we wanted to do,â?? said Bubba Knapp.
Knapp is known throughout the region for his award winning bar-b-que, and he and his wife Sabrina wanted to expand their business.
â??We will have our bar-b-que, which we have here; but we will also have appetizers, burgers, steaks, quesadillas, fish and every Friday and Saturday we are going to have smoked prime rib dinners. On Sundays, we are going to have a family style day,â?? Knapp said.
Knapp also added that several vegetarian options will be on the new menu, so there will be something for everybody.
Sabrina has been running the current restaurant, along with Bubba, from the beginning. She told KTVO that she is looking forward to opening the new location, and hiring more staff.
â??You can bring in resumes and application here (their downtown location). If they would like to talk to use personally, they can get our numbers from the staff here as well,â?? Knapp said.
The new restaurant will seat over 100 customers and include a party room that will seat anywhere from 12 to 50 guests.
The Knapps wanted to let the community know that they are still committed to their downtown location. The restaurant will be open Monday through Friday, with shortened hours.
The new Quincy Place Mall location is expected to be open in the spring.
