Prisoner escapes from the Davis County jail

Davis County officials have captured Kelly Shiltz, 44, after he escaped from the Davis County jail's exercise pin. Law enforcment officials say he then stole a car which had a firearm already inside.

Shiltz was finally caught around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of 230th and Highway 2, southeast of Bloomfield, Iowa. According to court records Shiltz has been arrested multiple times on burglary and robbery charges and has multiple felony convictions.


UPDATED - Law enforcement says that a prisoner who escaped from the Davis County Jail earlier Friday afternoon is once again in custody.

Davis County Law enforcement officials tell KTVO that they are currently looking for a prisoner who escaped from the Davis County Jail this afternoon.

Kelly Shiltz was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Law enforcement says that Shiltz should be considered armed and dangerous.

According to online court records, Schiltz was arrested twice in September on numerous counts including felony burglary and robbery charges.
