Project Linus has you 'covered' this winter
Project Linus is a national â??blanketeerâ?? organization with a few chapters throughout the Midwest. They are known for collecting and distributing blankets to children in hospitals, shelters and other social service agencies.
Local organization members met at the El Kadir Shrine Club in Kirksville for what they've deemed, â??Annual Make a Blanket Day.â?? Members volunteered to train those attending without sewing experience. The chapter coordinator says there were over 300 blankets made today.
â??We have pre-cut kits and people come in and they sit down and they sew their quilt top together and then they're able to put backing with it and complete a quilt top here in the course of a few hairs. We have several other volunteers here that are showing them how to do fleece and tie quilts,â?? says Chapter Coordinator Conni Douvier.
There are blanket drop off locations throughout the Missouri area. Visit the link for more information: http://www.projectlinus.org/volunteer/volunteer.php?StateKey=MO#tgt.
