Proposal for new convention center hotel up for vote
Ottumwa, Iowa —
On Tuesday, the Ottumwa City Council will vote whether or not to add a hotel next to the Bridge View Convention Center. If the proposal is accepted the city will begin requesting bids for the site.
"We're missing out on and hearing from groups that want to host conventions that the lack of adjacent or connected facility is really hurting our chances of attracting some of these bigger shows," Ottumwa Public Information Officer Tom Rogers said.
The proposed hotel will include 80 rooms, a maximum conference space of 700 square feet that will not compete with the Bridge View Center, and a swimming pool among other amenities.
