Prosecutor speaks on teen's sentencing

Tyler Treece, 19, of glenwood was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison.

A northeast Missouri teen who pleaded guilty to a Thanksgiving shooting back in 2011 has been sentenced.

Tyler Treece, 19, of Glenwood, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison.

Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson asked for 15 years. KTVO spoke with wilson and he said he is pleased with the sentencing.

"We asked for 15 because we recognize that Mr. Treece is a young man, still 19 years of age and our hope is that he would learn from this and come out to be a responsible adult and move forward and recognize the mistakes and idiocy of what he did that night," Wilson said.

Wilson also added that the shooting victim did not want Treece to be in prison for a long time, but she did want him to be held accountable.

Wilson said he still believes justice was has been served.
