PSF deadline meeting

About 1,500 concerned residents of northern Missouri attended a meeting about a deadline for Premium Standard Farms to make environmental improvements.During Monday night's meeting, Attorney General Chris Koster was non-committal about extending a July 31 deadline for the company to comply with a 1999 court order. The original court order required Premium Standards to install $25 million in pollution-reducing equipment. The order has been expanded and is still being implemented. The St. Joseph News-Press reports that Koster said that he has to consider the impact on jobs and property rights equally. Many residents at the gathering said enforcing the deadline could threaten Premium Standard's operation in northern Missouri.Click here to read PSF statement
