Public Works Department receives feedback regarding traffic changes

The Kirksville Airport and Transportation Commission held its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.

Both Airport Director Glenn Balliew and Public Works Director Alan Griffiths were on hand to give updates on different city projects.

Monday, the airport changed its fuel vendor at Avfuel. That change is expected to bring more jets to the airport. The 'Runway and Taxiway Lighting Replacement Project' also began on June 25. That project is expected to last for 76 days.

The 2014 'Street Resurfacing Project' is also underway. Mihalevich Concrete is currently working on Halliburton between Normal and Patterson Streets. City crews are working on Bradford between Jefferson and Scott. That work is to prepare for new asphalt to be laid.

The Public Works Department has also received feedback regarding the traffic signal changes made downtown.

"Most of the feedback is positive. I've had a couple of negative comments, but most of it's been very positive. People finding they can get through town a little easier," said Alan Griffiths, Kirksville Public Works Director.

The Commission also voted to change when its meetings will be held. Instead of being held on the first Tuesday of each month, the Commission voted to meet the second Tuesday of each month at noon.
