Putnam County teacher placed on administrative leave

We've received a number of phone calls, e-mails and Facebook messages about a Putnam County teacher and coach in trouble at school.

Putnam County Schools Superintendent Heath Halley spoke with KTVO Friday about the incident.

Halley said that a middle school science teacher has been placed on administrative leave through the end of this school year.

The teacher also serves as the school district's head junior high basketball coach and assistant junior high football coach.

Halley said the man is in trouble for inappropriate comments he made during his coaching duties.

He says nothing physical or illegal happened, just inappropriate comments that the district won't tolerate.

Halley stressed that the comments were not made in the classroom, they were made during coaching conversations with young players.
