One local healthcare center is going the extra mile to raise money, 25 cents at a time.
Hospice of Northeast Missouri kicked off their annual Quarter Mile Campaign this morning. The goal is to raise 63,360 quarters, which is enough to fill one mile. Individuals are encouraged to support the campaign by donating a quarter, a roll of quarters or any amount they choose to help reach the goal. This is the fifth year for the Quarter Mile Campaign and the money raised will help to cover services like medical equipment, medication and nursing care.
â??We rely on community support, donations and fundraisers to provide extra financial support and provide important services for our patients," said Executive Director Stephanie Byrum. "Even for folks who have insurance and folks who donâ??t have any insurance, this money will go towards important supplies and services they need to make their lives more comfortable And easier during this time.â??
Throughout the year, Hospice of Northeast Missouri provides care to over 200 individuals and families in 11 counties. Donations can be dropped off at participating banks throughout those 11 counties or the Hospice of Northeast Missouri office at 201 S. Baltimore in Kirksville. For more information call the hospice office at 660-627-9711. The campaign will run until Friday, July 25th.
