Ragbrai committees, prospective volunteers meet in Fairfield

Audience gets a taste of the Cirque de Fairfield theme at the

Ragbrai preparations in Fairfield are in full force.

Dozens of people gathered at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center for an entertaining, yet informative presentation about whatâ??s still on the to-do-list. The housing committee is still looking for people willing to open up their homes for bikers to stay, and event planners are also looking for 750-1,000 volunteers. Non-profit and full-profit vendors to provide food and services are also in demand.

The bands and performers selected will complement the â??Cirque De Fairfieldâ?? theme.

â??We have a group from Peru, Indiana, that's coming,â?? said Dennis Lopp, Fairfield Ragbrai Co-Chairman. â??They are a training ground for circus performers, and they're coming to do a variety of acts, a variety of things to really bring our theme to life in a real way.â??

Bicyclists will spin through Fairfield on July 26. If youâ??d like to get involved, find vendor, volunteer and housing application forms on the Ragbrai Fairfield website.
