Fri, 06 Sep 2013 17:30:00 GMT — Former "America's Got Talent" winner Neal Boyd is ready to try another run at elected office. The Southeast Missourian reports that Boyd, of Sikeston, announced Thursday that he is running as a Republican for a seat in the Missouri House. Boyd won the 2008 version of the TV show "America's Got Talent" and now co-owns an insurance company. It's not his first go at politics. He ran last year in Missouri's 149th District, losing to Democratic incumbent Steve Hodges in the November general election. Hodges got 66 percent of the vote. Hodges cannot seek re-election in 2014 due to term limits. Boyd is the first candidate to announce intentions to run. The district is the only one in the southeast Missouri region still held by a Democrat.
