If you own power tools that use battery chargers listen up, you may be at risk for a fire.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and One World Technologies is recalling Ryobi P113 Dual Chemistry Battery Chargers due to fire and burn hazards.
One World Technologies has received 25 reports of the P113 chargers overheating, resulting in reports of property damage to the charger and its surroundings such as workbenches, countertops and carpeting.
Macon Fire Department Captain Jeff Skjeveland is asking that consumers take action immediately.
"First thing they need to do is to stop using it and that the battery is not in the charger and it is unplugged. Go and find out where it needs to go back and send it. I'm sure since it's a recall that the company is going to take care of whatever issues there are," Skjeveland said.
If you currently own a P113 Charger, contact One World Technologies at at (800) 597-9624 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at www.ryobitools.com. Click on Important Safety Information at the bottom of the page and they will send you a free replacement charger.
