Relay for Life in Kirksville starts Saturday
In 2012, more than 1.5 million people died of cancer in the United States. Even though every year we get closer to finding the cure, too many lives are still lost. If you would like to join an event that not only creates awareness for cancer, but also raises millions of dollars for research, consider participating in this year's Relay for Life. Relay for Life will be held at Kirksvilleâ??s primary school from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. This event is for everyone and there will be activities that cater to all ages.
â??Come on out. Enjoy the fun. You don't have to stay for the whole time. Just stop in for a little while. There will be food, groups here from Truman, groups from the community that will be doing some dancing, some singing, and that type of thing. We also got some games scheduled. People can participate in some games. Along with the event itself where people are walking the track, just to have a good time,â?? said Tom Johnson Director of Public Safety at Truman State University.
