Running for 'Hope for Maddie' during 33rd Annual Milan Old Timers Reunion
MILAN, Mo. —
Runners got a little more color than just rosy cheeks on Friday’s warm evening.
The first ever 'Hope for Maddie 5K Color Run’ was held in Milan.
Around 170 runners and walkers registered for the event.
“Normally at Milan Old Timers, this time of year, they put on a 5K anyway, and they let us take it over this year so we could raise some money for Children's Mercy,” said Maddie’s mom, Chelsea Wilson. “We just thought the color run would be fun, it's just something kid friendly."
The 5K was a fundraiser for Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City - where seven-year-old Maddie, of Milan, is receiving care for a variety of rare diseases.
Chelsea told KTVO Maddie’s doctors say they've never seen, or heard of, a case quite like Maddie’s before.
